Lauf #1 - Sebring
Für die Teilnahme an dieser Langstreckenserie entschied sich unser Team erst kurz vor dem ersten Rennen und somit mussten wir, notgedrungen, mit nur wenig Trainingsrunden an den Start gehen. Steffen schaffte es trotz der geringen Zeit, die dafür blieb, ein richtig gutes Setup zu erstellen, setzte den Fokus aber bewusst eher auf Stabilität als auf Speed, um das fehlende Training ein wenig auszugleichen. Da Sebring eine Strecke ist, die so gut wie jeder Rennfahrer wie seine Westentasche kennt, waren wir alle mit dem Streckenlayout gut vertraut - ein Umstand, der ausgesprochen hilfreich war.
Nach der Qualifikation mussten wir uns mit einem Startplatz im hinteren Teil des Feldes begnügen, aber im Rennen lief es doch gar nicht so schlecht. Steffens Rundenzeiten waren im Renntrim gar nicht übel und er rückte beständig nach vorne. Tommy konnte als zweiter Fahrer des Teams dieses Tempo nicht halten, schaffte es aber, die aktuelle Position im Feld zu halten. Nach einem Ausrutscher in der Zielkurve musste er seinen Stint kürzen und den Wagen etwas früher als geplant an Harald übergeben.Der kämpfte wiederum sehr mit den Reifen, sein starker Lenkeinschlag sorgte für ein zu schnelles Abbauen der Reifen und nach gut der Hälfte seines Stints krachte es - ab an die Box und reparieren lautete die Devise.
Für den letzten Turn musste also nochmal Steffen ran und es lief auf Duell um Platz 14 mit dem Team von MS Racing hinaus. Wie schon zu Beginn legte Steffen wieder richtig gute Rundenzeiten hin und konnte die Lücke nach vorne zügig schliessen. Es wurde richtig spannend, doch dann erlaubte ein Missgeschick des anderen Teams einen kampflosen Platzgewinn für unsere Corvette und wir konnten das Rennen auf Platz 14 beenden. In Le Mans werden wir wieder am Start sein und mit mehr Vorbereitungszeit auch ein besseres Ergebnis anpeilen. Grosses Lob an die Organisatoren und alle Teilnehmer, das Rennen war richtig klasse!

Race #1 - Sebring
The decision to take part in this endurance series was made only a few days prior to the first leg forcing us to enter the race with only a limited number of practise laps. Despite the time constraints, Steffen managed to create a really good set-up, deliberately setting the focus on stability rather than speed in order to compensate for our lack of practise. Since Sebring is a track that every race driver knows by heart all of us were well acquainted to the track layout which definitely helped.
After the qualifying session we had to accept a place close to the back of the grid but Steffen's lap times turned out to be quite competitive once the race got going and the team's position improved constantly. Tommy was up nest and although he was unable to match Stffen's laptimes he could at least maintain position. In the closing laps of his stint he hit the wall in the last corner and had to cut the stint short, handing the car over to Harry a bit earlier than planned. Harry had to fight hard for control of the car, his tight steering-lock caused the tires to overheat lose grip much faster than he had expected. About halfway through his stint he experienced a bad crash and had to limp back to the pits for repairs.
Steffen took the wheel again and instantly upped the team's laptimes. Things started to hot up and a close battle for 14th place with the MS Racing Team ensued. We decided to opt for a slight undercut and put the pressure on the other team. A mishap by one of the other team's drivers handed us the position without much of a battle, though and Steffen was able to cruise home and secure P14. We'll definitely be back on-track in Le Mans and with more time get ready for the race we'll be aiming for a better result, too. Well done to the organisers and all the participants, it was a great race!

Lauf #2 - Le Mans
Mit Le Mans stand für den zweiten Wertungslauf erneut eine Strecke an, die zweifellos als Klassiker bezeichnet werden kann und wir alle blickten dem Rennen mit Spannung entgegen. Erneut baute Steffen ein hervorragendes Setup und obwohl schon in der Trainingsphase deutlich wurde, dass wir den Porsche Teams nur schwer würden Paroli bieten können, waren wir zuversichtlich. Die langen geraden kamen der leistungsstarken Corvette sehr entgegen und glichen das Manko im Bereich des Handlings ein wenig aus.
In der Qualifikation gelang mit P9 ein Platz in den Top 10 und am Start war Steffen einer schnellsten - nach nur ein paar Kurven hatte er sich schon bis auf Platz 3 vorgearbeitet. Auf der Geraden konnte Steffen von der Motorenpower der Corvette profitieren und sich sogar Platz 2 holen. Leider liess die Sportlichkeit anderer Fahrer etwas zu wünschen übrig denn im Mulsanne Kink stach ein Fahrer in viel zu überoptimistischer Natur innen hinein und drehte Steffen's Wagen um. Fast das gesamte Feld musste Stfeffen passieren lassen, bevor er das Rennen wieder aufnehmen konnte; der andere Fahrer fuhr einfach munter weiter.
Nach vielen Runden des Aufholens konnte Steffen den Wagen an Tommy übergeben, der das Rennen auf Platz 7 liegend fortsetzte. Aufgrund der etwas unterschiedlichen Boxenstrategien rückte unser Team zwischenzeitlich bis auf Platz 6 vor und nach einem Stint ohne nennenswerte Vorfälle übernahm wieder Steffen das Steuer. So langsam wurde deutlich, dass die Strategie gut berechnet war, Platz 5 schien fast sicher und als der eine oder andere Konkurrent überraschend mit Problemen zu kämpfen hatte, schien sogar ein dritter Platz möglich.
Leider machten uns die Reifen einen Strich durch die Rechnung, denn in der vorletzten Runde seines aktuellen Stints rutschte Steffen in die Mauer und musste beim Stop wegen der Reparaturen deutlich länger stehen. Im letzten Stint holte Steffen nochmal alles aus unserer C6R heraus und konnte noch auf Platz 4 nach vorne fahren, das Treppchen blieb leider ausser Reichweite. Erneut ein tolles Rennen, das leider durch das unnötige Manöver des ungeduldigen Fahrers in Runde 1 getrübt wurde - das hätte wirklich nicht sein müssen.

Race #2 - Le Mans
The series' second race was run at Le Mans, a track that can surely be considered a real classic, too, and all of us looked forward to the race with great excitement. once again, Steffen put an excellent setup together and although
the days in the run-up to the race clearly showed that we would have a hard time beating the Porsche teams we were quite confident. The long straight played nicely to the Corvette's engine power and made up for the car's slight lack of handling.
Qualifying was ok and we grabbed P9 providing us with a nice top 10 result. Steffen did a great job at the start and within a few corners he had already moved all the way to P3! On the straight he benefited from the car's raw engine power and even took 2nd place. Sadly, some of the drivers lacked patience and sportsmanship and another driver's
silly attempt to pass Steffen on the inside at Mulsanne lead to our car being turned around. Steffen had to let nearly the entire pack of cars pass before he was able to resume the race - the driver at fault carried on as if nothing had happened.
After many laps of playing catch-up Steffen handed the car over to Tommy who took to the track placed 7th. Due to
the slightly different pit strategies our team moved P6 for a while and after a stint without any noteworthy incidents Steffen took control of the car again. It became evident that our strategy was well calculated: 5th place was almost certain and when some of our direct opponents experienced unforeseen difficulties even 3rd place seemed possible. The excitement increased significantly!
Unfortunately, the tires let us down and on the penultimate lap of his current stint Steffen skidded into the barriers forcing him to pit a couple of laps earlier and wait longer during his pitstop for the repairs to be completed. We forced to go all out in the final stint which is exactly what Steffen did and it paid off. He moved our trusty C6R to 4th place but, unfortunately, a podium finish remained out of reach. Once again, a really great race; a pity, though, about that impatient driver and the silly mishap the caused in lap 1, we could well have done without that.
