2H Nordschleife 2013Das erste grössere Event im aktuellen Jahr, an dem unser Team teilnahm, war das 2H Rennen auf der Nordschleife, veranstaltet von rFactor-Funevent. Zur Wahl standen GT1 und GT2 Wagen, das Team entschied sich für einen Aston Martin DBR9 in der GT1 Klasse und jeweils einem Spyker C8 und einem Ferrari 430 in der GT2 Klasse. Kurz vor dem Rennen entschied sich Alex dann doch für einen Porsche 997 und der Ferrari blieb stattdessen in der Garage. Eine Teilnahme an der Qualifikation, die am Vortag des Rennens stattfand, war unseren Fahrern aus Zeitgründen leider
nicht möglich, aber die Vorfreude auf das Event trübte das keineswegs.
Am Samstag ging es dann zur Sache und alle drei Wagen hatten einen sauberen Start. Einzig beim Spyker lief nicht alles rund, denn Dominik musste an Stelle von Gerry den Start fahren, da dieser nicht rechtzeitig am Rennserver sein konnte. Ein Reifenschaden nach einem Kontakt mit der Leitplanke führte in einer der ersten Rennrunden zu einem Reifenschaden und Dominik musste den Wagen an langsamer Fahrt an die Box bringen. Nach Anlaufschwierigkeiten beim Fahrerwechsel konnte Gerry den Wagen schliesslich komplett repariert übernehmen und ins Renngeschehen eingreifen. Es war allerdings schwierig, den grossen Rückstand wieder aufzuholen und um die vorderen Plätze konnte Gerry nicht mehr kämpfen, aber er zeigte trotzdem gute Rundenzeiten und brachte den Wagen sicher ins Ziel. Der Aston Martin war weniger erfolgreich, in Runde 1 blieb der Wagen infolge eines Drehers an einem Curb hängen und Harald konnte den Wagen unglücklicher Weise nicht mehr frei bekommen, eher der Motor des DBR9 überhitzte und
sich verabschiedete – Rennende für unseren einzigen GT1 im Feld. Das spannendste Rennen hatte Alex, der mit dem Porsche eine starke Leistung zeigte und richtig viele Positionskämpfe hatte. Fast jede Runde war er im Fight und an Spannung fehlte es wirklich nicht, Platz 7 war die verdiente Belohnung.
2H Nordschleife 2013The first major Event our team joined in 2013 was a 2 hour race at the Nordschleife which was being organised by rFactor-Funevent. GT1 and GT2 cars were available for the race and our drivers chose an Aston Martin DBR9 for the GT1 classification along with a Spyker C8 and a Ferrari 430 from the range of GT2 vehicles. As Alex switched to a Porsche 997 shortly before the event the Ferrari stayed in the paddock, though. As none of our drivers were able to take part in the qualifying on Friday due to a full schedule they had to start from the back of the grid but that was no big deal and we were still looking forward to the event.
Saturday was race day and things went smoothly at the start for all our entries with perhaps the Spyker being the one exception. Gerry would be home later than planned so Dominik had to be the starting driver and would hand the car over as soon as Gerry was ready to race. A small mishap which included making contact with the barriers caused a flat tire and the car had to be taken back to the pits at low speed which cost loads of time. The driver change didn’t work out right away, either, and once Gerry was finally able to go on-track the gap to the drivers ahead was considerable. He did his best, though, and managed to complete the race without further incidents. Sadly, the Aston Martin didn’t get far: following a spin the car got beached on one of the high curbs and Harry was unable to get the car going before the engine overheated and died forcing an early retirement. Alex’ race was surely the most exciting as he performed really well and had many successful battles for position. He was fighting on nearly every lap and had a truly great race which provided him with a well deserved finish on P7.
